so I went to hmv again, why do I do this to myself? it's the movies. not me. )

Also this, from [livejournal.com profile] adinfinitum: Ask me a fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Questions can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want..

GUYS I FINISHED WATCHING DOLLHOUSE AGAIN LAST NIGHT AND STILL COULDN'T COPE.

I legit can't stop listening to this. IT IS SO LOVELY HOW IS IT SO LOVELY?

Meanwhile, I haven't slept properly for about a month and have gone appropriately crackers, so humour me with STOP: MEME TIME. A quick look back through my LJ tells me I haven't done these two in a couple of years, so that obviously means I can roll them back out again.

a) Comment and I will:

1) Tell you why I friended you.
2) Associate you with a song/film.
3) Tell a random fact about you.
4) Tell a first memory about you.
5) Associate you with a character/pairing.
6) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
7) Show you my favourite user pic of yours.
8) In retort, you must spead this disease in your LJ. (except, you don't have to do this at all, whatever meme rules, I openly defy you).

b) ame a character and I'll tell you three (or more) facts about them from my own personal pseudo-canon.

(Also, I really don't mind if you pick more than one character, but no more than three please, because there are LIMITS TO MY BRAIN.)

I'm going to see Black Swan tomorrow. RIDICULOUSLY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. ~BALLET THRILLER~ says the advert.

Who is talking, oh look it is me again. Hello, me.

After spending the last couple of days telling myself I was going to have a break and not do any work, and then ignoring myself and working anyway, today I am actually Having a Rest. This decision was in part made when I started rereading Book 12 of the Aeneid and it took me an hour, jesus, so here I am, all only-six-hours-sleep of me, on my sofa, doing fuck-all and waiting for Robin Hood to come on. I was going to say I am on Team Eyeliner for this programme, but then I realised that everyone wears eyeliner in this thing, so that would have been a useless assertion to make. Never mind! Guy has washed his hair! Spoiler for the preview for tonight's episode ).

Also I apparently have some thoughts on the last few episodes of Primeval? )

Right now I am unable to stop listening to Coldplay's album 'Viva la Vida OR Death and All His Friends', and two of the songs on it are now inextricably linked with Havemercy in my head, and I wept like a child when Viva la Vida came on my iPod on the way home from school the other day. I was just walking home, weeping pathetically. Thank god it was raining is all I can say about that, but I am not ashamed because I apparently have no dignity left. Who knew? (Everyone).

How many times can I say that this book has gay magicians and metal dragons and a touching love story and also broke my heart in the good way before someone hits me to make me shut up? Probably I passed this point a while ago.

Hmm hmm hmm, I swear I had something else to say. Oh, right, I know. Yesterday I went to see Wolverine (spoilers) )

Tell me your thoughts on that, o other people who have seen it. Also, I may possibly have come out of the cinema and gone to HMV, where I may or may not have purchased the other X-Men films, because I am a ridic, and also the final cut of Alexander (because I like seeing classical history butchered onscreen with some gay, alright) and some film or other where Holmes and Watson meet as schoolboys, because OH MY GOD, YES PLEASE.

I had to restrain myself from buying Stormbreaker.

Because I want to do this, and because I need something to distract myself from the fact that my limbs feel like someone poured concrete in them, let's do this fic meme that's been all over my flist, because it looks fun:

The first ten people Anyone who wants to comment in this post get to request a drabble of any pairing/character of their choosing from me. In return, they have to can post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level. Moog-addition: up to three pairings/characters, okay. I am feeling generous, and I am also not reading the Aeneid any more today, so have at you!

I have spent the last few days having my brain eaten by Havemercy, the first book by Jaida Jones ([livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida, she of Shoebox notoriety) and Dani Bennett ([livejournal.com profile] danibennett). Most of you have already experienced me metaphorically shoving this book at your faces, but I felt compelled to make a post about it, because, OH MY GOD.

Also, you all need to read it as of yesterday. Here is a summary I wrote, ganked from a comment in [livejournal.com profile] sophieisgod's journal:

Moog-style summary, no spoilers past the set-up for the novel, so, like, the first chapter? )

TL;DR: SHORT VERSION - GAY MAGICIANS AND METAL DRAGONS. READ IT NOWWW. It takes a bit longer to get into than some books do, but this is because you are immediately introduced to four different characters who have four different ways of looking at the world, and knowledge about the world, and so the first few chapters are quite heavy on the confusion/world-building factors, but, honestly, it is so good that that doesn't seem to matter.

AND ROYSTON IS MY FAVOURITE.

READ ITTTT.

A big thanks goes to [livejournal.com profile] twicetheheart31 who has been joining me in writing epically long comments about this book, and to whom I say BALFOURRRRR, because I am re-reading it now and HIS GLOVES. Oh, hey, do some of you not know what I'm talking about? READ THE BOOK.

No, no, I will not stop talking about this book until everyone I know has read it.

Moving on: icon meme time! I have two of these to do, and another cold, wth body, and so this seemed like the right day to play.

That one that was floating around a while ago, but I Am Slow - apparently - and also I like looking at icons. )

And this one too:

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

[livejournal.com profile] miss_atom gave me these to talk about. )

That was a lot of words about nothing! Well done good werks to me. Here are some miscellaneous words:

- Today, in an effort to provide my cold-ridden self with some good noms, I made some banana bread, only I modified the recipe to include pecans and dairy-free chocolate chunks, and it is indeed good noms. NOM NOM NOM.

- I am currently enjoying the benefits of having an 90 day free introductory period to LoveFilm, which I am abusing by using it to watch things I just wouldn't pay money for and also indulging in the fact that I am apparently entirely ridiculous and currently only want to watch ridiculous things. What I have at home right now: The Rage in Placid Lake, Wild Child and Mulan. OH YEAH, I'M COOL.

- I am pretending that if I don't think about the exams, either they won't happen or I won't freak out. Either of these two options is an acceptable outcome.

- HAVEMERCY, EVERYONE, GO AND READ IT. The paperback version comes out in July, and so does the sequel, jkadajhdjkg, I am so excited.

One last meme, edited because I have done this one a freaking zillion times, and you don't want to hear the same thing from me, like, again:

Comment on this entry, and I will:

1. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a color, a photo, a word etc.
2. Tell you something I like about you.
3. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
4. Rec you something on the internets to go and look at.
5. In return, you must can post this in your LJ, if you feel like procrastinating too.

- Let me know if you comment which (if either, or indeed, if you choose both) meme you'd like to play along with.

Humour me, flist. It is either keep myself busy on the internets, or go and throw up forever. Nausea is not the boss of me, I say! I say, down with fail and up with FREAKING POINTLESS MEMES! FUN FOR EVERYONE! also I am going to get those 5 Things comments done very very soon, I promise.

On another note, I'm thinking about making this journal semi-friends only. I mean, I lock most of the stuff I don't feel comfortable sharing with the world at large, but I'm thinking of maybe extending that to just everything that isn't either an entirely fandom-related post, or fic. Flist, what are your thoughts? Are you friends-only? What do you think of friends-only journals in general? Has semi-friends only worked for you?

Feel free to join in with one, or both, I really don't mind! I'm off on a new icon gathering haul around LJ, la la la, I must make the most of these two short months with all the userpic spaces, fun fun fun.

It is time for a meme, mainly because I am the kind of tired that means I won't be able to sleep, and because I am in the process of writing two separate fics at the moment, and my ability to make words happen seems to be deserting me. MEMES CLEARLY CURE THIS.

Everyone likes this one, right?

Comment to this post with an idea for a Top Five list (for example, Five Times Laura Roslin's Desk Broke, or Five Monday Morning Incidents With Mac's Motorbike). Then, in a separate post in reply to your comment, I will compile the requested list, according to me. Multiple requests are welcomed (er, but I might take a while to get to them). If you don't know if I know a fandom, ask me! Chances are, I might do.

Lolol I have so many other things I should actually be doing right now. But! In true Moog-style, I shall completely ignore them in favour of twatting about on the internets. Join me in procrastination as I do that Five Things meme, from [livejournal.com profile] lovestories. If you want to play, comment and I shall think of questions to throw at your faces.

(spoilers for Being Human episodes aired so far, but reeeeeally mild ones, and in picture form)

Why do I always write so much for these things, what. (unexpectedly image-heavy) )

Well, that was a bit longer than expected.

On a different note, does anyone know where I might find myself a League of Gentlemen moodtheme?
