Who is talking, oh look it is me again. Hello, me.

After spending the last couple of days telling myself I was going to have a break and not do any work, and then ignoring myself and working anyway, today I am actually Having a Rest. This decision was in part made when I started rereading Book 12 of the Aeneid and it took me an hour, jesus, so here I am, all only-six-hours-sleep of me, on my sofa, doing fuck-all and waiting for Robin Hood to come on. I was going to say I am on Team Eyeliner for this programme, but then I realised that everyone wears eyeliner in this thing, so that would have been a useless assertion to make. Never mind! Guy has washed his hair! AND TOBY STEPHENS TOO, OH MY GOD, THANK YOU BBC..

. I am liking this programme so much more with Quatermass in charge! Alright, so that's not the actor's real name, but that is what happens in my head every time he crops up in something, and so Quatermass he shall stay. Not to say that I didn't like watching Cutter (I, er, think that was his name) run around and look worried a lot, but I really only liked him for the massive massive boylove he had for that pretty one that I knew from somewhere and couldn't place - er, the one who died at the end of the last season - and when he went, I got bored of Cutter on his own.

And now there is a woman interested in mythology, and Quatermass running the show, and even Not-S-Club-7-any-more girl can't irritate me as much, and, basically, Saturday nights are the night for rubbish television, oh yeahhhh.

Right now I am unable to stop listening to Coldplay's album 'Viva la Vida OR Death and All His Friends', and two of the songs on it are now inextricably linked with Havemercy in my head, and I wept like a child when Viva la Vida came on my iPod on the way home from school the other day. I was just walking home, weeping pathetically. Thank god it was raining is all I can say about that, but I am not ashamed because I apparently have no dignity left. Who knew? (Everyone).

How many times can I say that this book has gay magicians and metal dragons and a touching love story and also broke my heart in the good way before someone hits me to make me shut up? Probably I passed this point a while ago.

Hmm hmm hmm, I swear I had something else to say. Oh, right, I know.

- Hugh Jackman! How I love him and his ridiculous, ridiculous self. Not that Wolverine is a particularly light-hearted sort of guy, but never mind.

- BROOOOOOODING, god, all the brooding, it was immense.

- I approved quite whole heartedly of Gambit. Twirl that cane, pretty boy! Twirl it real good. Although I didn't quite get why he stopped Wolverine from killing Victor in the alley - I thought Gambit wanted Stryker and everyone involved with Stryker dead? - but, you know, I admit to never having read the comics, and, also, I wasn't really there for the plot. Shut up.

- I enjoyed it! A lot! It was ridiculous and fun, and ahdgadhgs pretty. I kind of shipped Wolverine/Victor? Despite the fact that they were brothers? Oh god, whatever, they were all slamming each other around and co-dependent for that bit at the beginning of the film, and all emotionally tied up with each other, and god, okay, I have no morals or anything any more.

- I also shipped Logan/Gambit, because, well, really.

- I can safely say that was the first time I have ever found Liev Schrieber attractive, and the fact that he was half-feral and snarling doesn't really say much about me apart from worrying things.

- The line, 'okay, people are dead' made me laugh, like, a lot.

- I kind of want to write fic for this, but I have no idea what about.

- Young Cyclops! An ass from an early age, good to know.

Tell me your thoughts on that, o other people who have seen it. Also, I may possibly have come out of the cinema and gone to HMV, where I may or may not have purchased the other X-Men films, because I am a ridic, and also the final cut of Alexander (because I like seeing classical history butchered onscreen with some gay, alright) and some film or other where Holmes and Watson meet as schoolboys, because OH MY GOD, YES PLEASE.

I had to restrain myself from buying Stormbreaker.

Because I want to do this, and because I need something to distract myself from the fact that my limbs feel like someone poured concrete in them, let's do this fic meme that's been all over my flist, because it looks fun:

The first ten people Anyone who wants to comment in this post get to request a drabble of any pairing/character of their choosing from me. In return, they have to can post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level. Moog-addition: up to three pairings/characters, okay. I am feeling generous, and I am also not reading the Aeneid any more today, so have at you!

I used to watch Primeval from time to time when I managed to catch an episode on tv, but this season I'm actually starting to watch it on a regular basis. Might be due to Jason Flemyng being awesome and Ben Mansfield being pretty. :D

Hm, Wolverine. I really liked the beginning of the movie ("Ok, people are dead." <3), and the cast was great, but the plot was a bit blah and they completely screwed up one of my favourite characters. So in the end, I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

Oh noes, which character did they screw up for you? Being a non-comic person myself, I couldn't really have anything like that spoiled for me, so I just enjoyed it for its crackalackness. I am aware I am a terrible, soure-material ignoring person.

Primeeeeeval. ROBIN HOOD. Oh Saturday night television, watching you takes away my brain cells.

Deadpool, because that thing with multiple powers at the end of the movie? That was about as far away from the real Deadpool as you can possibly get. Ryan Reynolds absolutely nailed him acting-wise at the beginning of the movie, but then they had to go and ruin him like that for the sake of having a proper showdown. Argh. *bitter geek is bitter* XD

And there's nothing wrong with being a source-material ignoring person! I'm sure I also would have enjoyed it a lot more (The pretty! The crackiness! The ass-kicking!) if I wasn't this familiar with the comic canon. :)

BRAIN CELLS ARE OVERRATED ANYWAY, MY DEAR! :D

What's the real Deadpool like? I am curious now!

Normally I do not ignore source material! It's just, er, comic-verses distress me because there's so many of them all. jahdhjgds

Wiki says:
Nicknamed the "Merc with a Mouth", Deadpool is a high-tech mercenary known for his wisecracks, black comedy, and satirical pop-culture references. Like the X-Men's Wolverine, Deadpool is the product of the Canadian government's paramilitary Weapon X program, although his place of birth is unknown. After Weapon X cured his terminal cancer by implementing a regenerative "healing factor" extracted from Wolverine, Deadpool is left disfigured and mentally unstable.
The bit about him being mentally unstable? Well, he talks to himself quite a lot (For example here! :D) and he's also aware of the fact that he's a comic book character, so he tends to break the Fourth Wall quite frequently.

That's why I never managed to get into the X-Men comics. Too much stuff, no idea where to start, brain overload!

I reeeally liked 'Wolverine'. I was enormously entertained. Oh Hugh Jackman, you're such an alpha alpha male. He makes me go all uber hetero, lol. God, I love all the X-Men movies.

Can I has a drabble pls? Any of these, my love:
Mab/Jadis, darkness
Rita Skeeter/Narcissa (cuz y'know our personal Narcissa is KST and Miranda/KST = nrgggh <3)
[and for totally random kicks] Irina/Wolverine

Wolverine was decent entertainment, even if - as people have already said - Deadpool was messed up. (I never read the comics, so it's of no real mind to me, but given what I've heard it seems like the original might have been better.)

BUT MAINLY I JUST WANTED TO ASK YOU: Have you ever played or wanted to play bridge?

Date: 2009-05-02 11:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com
Oh, Wolverine. It brought such joy to my Friday afternoon. :D

Bridge - er, I think I've played it once or twice, but long enough ago that I don't really have a good recollection of what it actually is (er?), and on the second point, I would play it again? I am rubbish at All Games Ever, mind. Why?

(because I am about to go to bed, it took me a minute to figure out that you weren't just talking about a bridge, which made so little sense it made my brain go bzzzzt)

I will come back to this entry and read your Wolverine comments when I've seen the film! Also WHAT IS THIS FILM WHERE HOLMES AND WATSON MEET AS SCHOOLBOYS?!

P.S. If you're still up for the fic meme, Blackadder/Darling? Pretty please? :D I won't put the meme in my journal because I'd be hopeless and probably not finish it, but I'd love to do a drabble in return if you give me a pairing/character (and a prompt if you wish). :)

ahsgdajhg NOT IGNORING THIS, BUT AM ALSO TRYING TO CRAM MORE FRENCH INTO MY BRAIN SO I DON'T FAIL MY ORAL NEXT WEEK.

Young Sherlock Holmes (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Young-Sherlock-Holmes-Nicholas-Rowe/dp/B000163WT4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1241549853&sr=8-1) - lo! Holmes and Watson as schoolboys. I am saving this for when I need some cheering, win win win.

Blackadder/Darling coming up! Is there a particular prompt you'd like me to use?

AHHHHH GOOD LUCK!!! :)

Also, adding that to my Wish List of Things I Will One Day Buy. Unless I make plans to meet you first (which is likely), in which case I will demand you bring it with you. :D

Ummmmmm, prompt...prompt...how about something to do with chocolate? Request a drabble yourself so I feel less guilty about abusing your fic-writing generousness!
