Although I will not be able to answer until tomorrow afternoon, after English Literature and Latin Verse exams, and I know I still haven't replied to a few comments (which I Will Do):

(Okay, so this is nearly a month late. I fail, clearly. Sorry!)

Sam Tyler:

- He once woke up from a nightmare, about really being from the seventies, and spent the rest of the night constructing a scale model of his real flat out of paper. He keeps it in a cupboard and doesn't look at it, in case it's disappeared (he thinks it might have, and he doesn't know if that makes him crazy or realistic).
- In 2007, in that brief, horrible lapse in times, he bought a leather jacket and a camel coat and slept in both of them, curled up with the collars to his nose and trying to remember as much as he could.
- He looks at Gene and sees himself, had the rules not got to him first, and he only sees Gene when they're pressed against a wall and not arguing vocally anymore.

Gene Hunt:

- He isn't really married. He just says he is to make people think he's not involved in a slightly destructive relationship with his D.I. or, before that, to make people think that he wasn't interested in throwing his D.I. up against the nearest surface and fucking the living daylights against him.
- In the tunnel, there was a moment where he honestly thought Sam would turn around and leave them there.
- When he looks at Sam, he sees himself if any rules had meant more to him than his over-riding sense of righteous justice, and he only sees Sam when they're pressed against a wall and not arguing vocally anymore.
