QUICK PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: I shall be watching BSG 4.5 two weeks behind the UK. I do not want any spoilers. Like, at all. And if I find out who the final cylon is before I see it revealed on the show? PEOPLE MAY DIE.
Er, that is to say: please, please, BSG-people, please lj-cut posts about it.
RIGHT THIS POST IS ENTIRELY POINTLESS: I will attempt to bestow order upon it by making it a numbered list of rubbish, instead of just me saying stuff in no order. Bow to my superior nonsensical skillz.
1. I'm off to see 'The Oresteia' in February, in York (awesome). Clytemnestra is one of my favourite women in the classical world, and I love the Oresteia for, like, showing her as bitchy and petty instead of whiny and weak like approximately many other texts.
2. Does anyone else find it difficult not to just go spending all their money in one big splurge when they finally have some to spend? My birthday/Christmas money is burning a big fat hole in my, er, bank account.
3. Being Human starts on BBC3 on Sunday 25th January! Moar George and Mitchell! Apparently the first few minutes are crucial, according to the BBC, so get ye sat promptly. Admittedly, this is a bit of a challenge for me, as I usually miss the first couple of minutes of things due to underestimating how long making my dinner will take. DD:
4. ALSO pilates continues to be unbelievably amazing. I can't say what, if anything, it's doing for my weight, as I seem to be unable to actually stop eating like a total heifer, but it's definitely making me more flexy-bendy, and, without wanting to sound like a total wanker, it feels like something I do entirely for myself, like I'm just taking these 10 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes/half an hour in the evening to ignore everything else that might be going on and focus on just stretching that little bit further.
5. I've been re-watching Grey's Anatomy. I still like Meredith. I still like McDreamy whilst simultaneously wanting to punch him in the face a lot. I still like Meredith/McDreamy, and do not like Izzie. I am quite clearly a fandom pariah (I should really do an unpopular fandom opinion post, except then you would all de-friend me and I would be cast out into the cold space of lj all adrift and alone and whatnot)
6. I'll do a fic round-up of 2008 soonly: it will have markedly fewer fics in than the one for 2007 had, but then 2007 did have the advantage of having Life On Mars take over my brain and force me to ignore revision in favour of writing the gay. Who needs an edcayshun, amirite?
7. I want to write some Derren Brown/David Tennant. Would anyone be interested?
8. I have already written David Tennant/Matt Smith. Er. idk how that happened.
Belatedly, happy new year! I hope you all have a fantbulously brillisome 2009, right?
IN CONCLUSION:

MY BODIES IS SQUISHED IN MY SPINES

Date: 2009-01-16 12:21 am (UTC)SERIOUSLY EVERYONE IS SO PRETTY AND SO ANGSTY AND ALSO COMPLETELY CRACKED OUT. I've seen most of seasons 1 through 3, but terrestrial tv over here hasn't aired s4 or s5 yet DD:
I would totes recommend S2, if only because I remember coming away from the telly in tears after most episodes, despite being fully aware of the fact that I was being emotionally manipulated by something that wasn't really that great a programme. NEVERTHELESS, I enjoyed it LOTS.

Also, plz to be posting your Tennant/Smith...because I am a massive perv. ;)

Date: 2009-01-16 01:00 am (UTC)yessssssssssssssssss, I am going at the end of May (three nights in my home town! I love you, Derren Brown! Also ILrhymes apparently!) and I am SO FREAKING PSYCHED. The friend I'm going with, we were in sociology today like "did you see Evening of Wonders?" "yes, did you?" "yes." "..." "..." "OMG MAGICS RFNGEKLNYN5R &c&c".

Date: 2009-01-16 01:06 am (UTC)Splarrrrrrrrrrrg, Derren Brown has slightly taken over my brain. Have you seen 'The Illusionist' and/or 'The Prestige'? Magic sends me a bit special, particularly stage performances. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AND ALSO HOT.

Date: 2009-01-15 11:18 pm (UTC)I handed around £200 in Xmas/birthday cash to my mum for payment of my creditcard debt. I think I felt my heart crack. *pouts*
And yayyyy 'Being Human'!

Date: 2009-01-16 12:13 am (UTC)Do you have money left for you to do frittering with, or was it all given to the sensible cause?

Date: 2009-01-16 12:20 am (UTC)Plus creditcard bill was consequence of the London frittering, so you needn't worry your pretty little head. :D

Date: 2009-01-16 12:24 am (UTC)(Play.com is just trying to take my money by both having things I want in large quantities and pricing it quite reasonably. Damn them.)
ALSO how crap is it that the final cylon got leaked? I am so going to be, like, reading the internets through my fingers for two weeks until I get to see the first two episodes (my father is recording the season for me - hurrah! - but I only see him twice a month and I see him this weekend when BSG starts on Tuesday, hence the two-week lag. NVM AT LEAST IT IS BATTLESTAR AMIRITE?) because god help me, there will be some righteous smiting if I am spoiled for these 10 episodes.

Date: 2009-01-16 12:31 am (UTC)(Cunning Play.com is cunning.)
It is EXTREMELY crap. I am worried I'll stumble across it too, this time I am not being a spoiler whore. I have been a very bad BSG fan as I keep forgetting about this Friday (exams and long hiatus bludgeon my fannishness into submission). I will confess that right this minute I am more excited by alllll the shiny new things Harriet Walter is in these next few months. *hangs head*
PS - I got tv Brideshead Revisited for Xmas and I have never been a slash fan but OMG CHARLES AND SEBASTIAN, CHARLES AND SEBASTIAN.
no subject
Date: 2009-01-16 12:42 am (UTC)When is the Law and Order thing with Bamber Boy and Harriet Harlot on? (Er, 'harlot' being the first word I could think of that started with 'h')
CHARLES AND SEBASTIANNNNN. OH MY GOOD GOD. They make me go quite extraordinarily special in the brain. Is it the tv one or the film? My mother got me a kind of cardboard, free-standing poster (you know, like they have in cinema lobbies?) of the film, which has a picture of Charles, Sebastian and Julia on and then Lady Marchmain in the background for my birthday, and it is NEARLY AS BIG AS ME. Also, my step-dad wrote little post-it notes on it from the characters, which are AWESOME.
The thing with Charles and Sebastian, I think, is that it's genuinely just not slash: it's already there. ♥ Epic gay love is epic.
no subject
Date: 2009-01-16 12:47 am (UTC)It will be airing on ITV in February. There is already a preview up on YouTube (I therefore forgive you for sullying her fine name :P)
The tv one. I am only going to see the film because of Emma Thompson as I pesonally believe the guys in the film to be miscast and Not Right. (Awwww! That poster thing is so awesome, how nice of them) Jeremy and Anthony are SO PERFECT.
You are so right. Not slash just VERY MUCH TEXT and Epic epic Love. I really do love them. The chemistry.....and Anthony is so pretty and perfect as Sebastian. <3

Date: 2009-01-16 12:57 am (UTC)SPEAKING OF LAURA: is it wrong of me to want her to be a cylon just so we can see her pretty hair again?
I am going to find that preview as soon as I stop typing this.
You are right: film!Brideshead people are very much miscast - I also quite dislike Michael Gambon (>:I) and I think, despite my love for her, Emma may not be right for the part - she has too nice a demeanour, perchance, for LM. idk, I need to see it before I make any snap judgements. I do know that JULIA goes to VENICE with them, which is just wrong on all levels, ever, so D:
no subject
Date: 2009-01-16 01:04 am (UTC)That is very much not wrong. I want her to be a cylon for many reasons and that is definitely one of them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJMeRZ9EMjM - if you didn't find it. :)
Yeah, I get the impression film!BH casting director is a mental case because there is a lot of miscasting. Omg, she does??? That is BOLLOCKS. STOP TRYING TO PLAY DOWN THE GAY, HOLLYWOOD.

Date: 2009-01-16 01:12 am (UTC)Twatty Jeremy Irons. My love for Charles is obv v. strong to overpower his ridiculousness. N'awww, the bit where he goes rushing to Brideshead because Sebastian says he's ill, and then he's just hurt his foot, and Charles is like 'I THOUGHT YOU WERE DYING' and Sebastian is like 'WELL SO DID I, I DON'T DO WELL WITH PAIN', and then Charles throws his hat on Sebastian's cast and gaytiems ensue. And the bit where Sebastian is like 'LOLS WE ARE GOING TO VENICE' and I burst into tears.
ALTHOUGH I hear there is an actual kiss in the film between Charles and Sebastian, which, on one hand ZOMG GAYYYY, but on the other, their relationship is quite perfect as it is, thanks, film people, we don't need overt reminders of it kthx.

Date: 2009-01-16 01:17 am (UTC)Ohgod, I love them pootering around Brideshead with the wheelchair and ahahahaha nekkid sunbathing on the roof. My heart goes all wibbly for that moment in your other icon, them on the beach in the rain. It's just so beautiful. <3

Date: 2009-01-15 11:53 pm (UTC)Also, this: I want to write some Derren Brown/David Tennant. Would anyone be interested?
Frankly, YES.
no subject
Date: 2009-01-16 12:15 am (UTC)Hurrah! I shall get right on that. (er, it may degenerate into gratuitous and badly written porn, but, y'know, that is not my fault: they are both RLY ATTRACTIVE)
ps: why are we still awake?
YOUR ICON IS AMAZING
no subject
Date: 2009-01-16 12:27 am (UTC)I am still awake because a) I am writing something truly retarded, and b) tomorrow, my first lesson is not until 11am, so I am allowwwwwwed a late night, before it's back to getting up at 7 for work on Saturday. :DDDD Thursday nights are funtime nights!
ITHANGYEW. I desperately need some Being Human icons: but idk whether to upload pilot ones I still have saved - there must be some lying about in one of darling Bertram's myriad picture folders - or wait until the new series starts. Which I am, by the by, SO fucking excited about that it is untrue!
no subject
Date: 2009-01-16 12:37 am (UTC)What is this retarded thing you are writing? I have launched straight into the Brown/Tennant porn, so, you know, we're both writing something STUPID in lieu of healing sleeps.
BEEEEEIIIINNNNG HUUUUMMMAAAAANN. Will you be available for spastic texts on the night, during first viewing? Just so I know whether I can text you whilst hanging, agog, off the sofa. D'you remember when the pilot aired and I texted you with declarations of my love for George/Mitchell without actually knowing if you were watching what I was watching, and then you went UNFG YES LIKE REMUS/SIRIUS and I very nearly had a mini-fit of delight at the perfectness of it all? Good tiems.
I will be grabbing some new season icons, I am sure, but I've had these uploaded for a while (the umbrella one says 'twirl that umbrella Marshall' in the keywords: I am not entirely sure where my brain went during that labeling session, but I hope it was nice)
Mainly, I want to see moar George and Mitchell just being around each other and all the awesome that entails, and, er, moar angst, moar boys interacting forever and ever and ever with Annie as well, okay, can that happen and also would it be out of the question for them to, like, kiss accidentally and then brush it off or smth, b/c that way, the tv programme gets to keep its subcurrents of slash whilst the internets ACTUALLY EXPLODE.
no subject
Date: 2009-01-16 12:46 am (UTC)Your icon-labelling made me laugh; you look back at some and they're just so bizarre, aren't they? My worst one is the names I give pictures when I save them, which often turn out to be freaking crackers. Sometimes they are a description of what the photo contains ("oh oh pretty boys"), sometimes they are a statement of joy ("YES.") and sometimes they are just things I urgently need to say or know ("so where did my ovaries go then"). Sighhhh.
I do remember that, omfg! Being Human was SO EXCITING then and will be SO EXCITING now, I actually cannot wait, and yes I think I am in that night. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :DDDDDD MY JOY CANNOT BE TEXTUALLY RENDERED.
Re. George/Mitchell, here is something I was saying to Maddie earlier: "What do you think the chance is of them actually ending up a couple at the end of it? Bearing in mind that [the creator/main writer] is the guy who wrote that Touch wood episode, Greeks Bearing Gifts, where the previously heterosexual-and-straight-and-totally-not-at-all-gay Toshiko falls unexpectedly in love with the charismatic inhuman female who sweeps her off her little bicurious feet. dgnsklrnglrn can you imagine if George/Mitchell actually happened, I would fucking DIE, no kidding."
I STAND BY THIS. xxx

Date: 2009-01-16 12:53 am (UTC)Caps truly necessary.
Email me to tell me about this retarded thing, so I can email you daily to mock and encourage it. ♥
I do the exact same thing with picture labelling. I am a freak. Also, you know that picture of John Barrowman in the jeans with the water and the weird sex-face that's basically just porn except he is, for once, not touching his penis? I have that saved on my computer as 'VERY MUCH FOR FRAN', as I saved it for Fran (er, no, really, Moog?) and wished to entirely distance myself from it even on my own hard-drive. Oh yeah. I also have many, many pictures saved under keyboard smashes of various names: the most amusing thing was when I tried to save a picture as smth like 'fkjsbjgsbgkjaafbj', and the computer said "you already have a file saved as 'fkjsbjgsbgkjaafbj', do you wish to overwrite?"

Date: 2009-01-16 02:51 pm (UTC)I will one day watch past the penultimate episode of BSG Season 2. One day! XD

Date: 2009-01-16 02:55 pm (UTC)SAD NEWS: due to the fact that even if I got up at, like, 5 to be on a train for 6-ish, I wouldn't make to Royal Holloway before 11, and would therefore miss a lot of the open day, so, er, I won't be going D: BUT it's all right, because I have my back-up option sorted. I WON'T SEE YOU THOUGH DD:
WATCH SEASON 3, OKAY, IT IS LIKE THE BEST SEASON EVER. xxx

Date: 2009-01-23 07:07 pm (UTC)Also, I see you are at Cambridge university! As, er, you may see in that highly quiet and understated post, I've just been made an offer to go there in September. Which college are you at? What are you studying?
LOOK AT THOSE HEDGEHOGS. LOOK AT THEIR LITTLE TINY FEETS. WHERE HAVE THEY GONE?
