Yesterday, the following conversation took place just at the end of a (really rather half-hearted) swimming session:
MOTHER: ....So, what are you doing at school tomorrow?
ME: Not that much. Classics. Maths. English. Something else while other people do sport.
MOTHER: Oh.
ME: Why is it that you ask?
MOTHER: I was thinking maybe you could not go to school and go shopping with me in York instead?
ME: ....Or I could do that.
See, she had some stuff to return to some place in York and then wanted to ponce around the shops a bit...and so I went with her, and today was such a lovely day.
And I bought things! I now own Life On Mars Series 1 (YES! MINE FOREVER!). Also, I now own a very lovely dress (this one, in fact) and I have my friend's birthday presents all sorted out and we had a hot chocolate and some Marks and Spencers food for lunch, and I'm having Marks and Spencers chicken enchiladas for dinner and life is good right now.
All I have to do this weekend is learn lines 129-172 of Book 4 of The Aeneid, and that's fun anyway. Ahh, weekends.
Anyone up for the one-sentence fic game again? (I'm going to post a fic in a minute. Apologies in advance for the spam.)
Give me a character (or multiple characters, or a pairing, or a theory, or a ridiculous AU, or anything you like, really) from a fandom (er, preferably one that I'm familiar with. If you don't know whether I know a fandom or not, feel free to ask. Crossovers are absolutely fine), and a theme to go with it (by 'a theme' I mean anything that will give me some idea of where I'm going - be as vague or as specific as you want to be), and I'll write you a one-sentence fic. You may make as many requests as you like.

Date: 2007-03-09 08:21 pm (UTC)Aeneid-wise, we only started the thing after the mocks. I connect 'learning sections of Pliny, Sempronia and Clodia' with fear and dread and panic. Especially Pliny. Stop using pillows on your heads, fools, there is lava coming. (If not near them, then somewhere. THERE WAS LAVA DURING THE ERUPTION LEAVE ME ALONE). What really fills me with dread is learning the Olympic Games stuff well enough in Classics. They and I do not exactly get along.
Prompt (THIS MADE TOO MUCH SENSE I AM WRONG IN THE HEAD):
When they arrived in some strange wood, different things pre-occupied different members of the Top Gear team: Richard, of course, was more concerned that his toga was too revealing (by a cruel twist of fate, he was the only one not in modern-dress); Jeremy was cursing the rain and the thunder and the lightning while simultaneously mocking the people on horses as they fled for shelter ("Why don't you have cars? My car has more horsepowers than your horse! Ahahaha, did you see what I did there?") and James seemed to be the only concerned with the howling coming from a nearby cave (he thought it might have been a Nymph, and then remembered they didn't exist) before they all got round to worrying about the whole part of the story where they were in a Roman Epic Extravangza.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA. XD
This is the extent of my Friday-night coherence. I LOVE THE AENEID/TOP GEAR - I THINK IT WOULD BE FUNNY IF JEREMY CLARKSON MET PLINY. THIS IS IN NO WAY A PROMPT...EXCEPT IT MIGHT BE. IF YOU WANT.
I DON'T KNOW, I'M TOO PREOCCUPIED WITH RICHARD IN A TOGA.
