I really don't know if I'll be shot down in flames for this person or not. Nevertheless, under the cut there is fangirling and slight analysing of why I am fangirling. Also, there are pictures, a fangasm over a certain favourite word of mine and discussion of one of my 'man kinks', as I like to call them ;-)

I've always been a little bit interested in Derren Brown, since I first saw him on television. And then, a couple of nights ago, I watched 'Something Wicked This Way Comes'. The first half was fine, entertaining and engaging and the like, but the second half...it had lots to do with pain, and using pain, and suddenly I was glued, really, really stuck to this crazy man hammering a nail into his nose and letting someone slap him so he could count some buttons and then being obsessively proud of himself when he got the number right.

I don't know, I guess it's something to do with liking to watch people (and this is going to sound dirty and wrong) reveal themselves, and get your minds out of the gutter, I mean how they are, how they act, especially if maybe it's a side of them you weren't expecting, or haven't seen before. He was so elated at the end, revealing to people how they had been manipulated, giddy and bouncing around the stage and then...

Well, and then he hit one of my 'man kinks', and if you've ever seen Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes do this, you should understand. He wore Victorian-ish (well, a suit - a pin-stripe suit that wasn't black and white, for double effect - without a jacket but with a waistcoat and then an expensive looking shirt and smart shoes) and then rolled up his sleeves and you could see his forearms. I have no idea why, but that...gets to me, in the way that Anna Chancellor does when she, oh, does anything.

Oh, and for me at least, there's a kind of illicit thrill in hearing someone swear when you're not expecting it, or you've not heard it from them before, and I like the word 'fucking' (again, not for the gutter reasons) particularly because certain people have a way of saying it that make me go all weak, something about the emphasis or the tone or the speed they say it, and it is actually one of my favourite words - I mean, think about what it literally means and then say the word; doesn't it just fit exactly? Isn't it perfect? ...um, anyway, he said it a couple of times, and I fairly swooned.

So you are being subjected to pictures, which are all from his website - google him, I think it's the first link.

Yes, I know. I have the picture saved as 'Lion wtf'

Mmm, brooding.

There's something about him. It could be the 'how does he do it' intrigue factor, or it could be the 'sleaze / charm' factor or it could be something else, but I can't put my finger on it exactly.

What do you all think?

25 minutes until TORCHWOOD FINALE!!

I think the not!sure thing is part of the attraction. Which is possibly slightly worrying. - Well, worrying is such an odd word...it perhaps should be worrying...and then you watch him being all hyperactive and mysterious and the worry doesn't seem to matter all that much ;-)

I think I might have been too embarrassed as well, never fear. With my Christmas money, I was thinking of getting his book or maybe Trick of the Mind S2.

Are we sad people?

Hahahaha, my re-commenting again is not stalking, I promise, it's just that I found this strange Derren Brown video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zz8uN-eTL6Q) and I've been wanting to share with someone. The sound's a bit wonky on my computer, so you might want to turn the speakers up (and no, I'm not saying that before a scary jump-out thing like most people do. I don't like them!)

There's a bit near the middle and it makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. See if you can spot it!

That video was awesome! I'm not sure which bit you loved but for me it was the same kid cycling through again and again. Hee.
