mooging: (Roslin Plotting)
[personal profile] mooging

The plan with these Battlestar picspams was to do one for each disc, thereby limiting myself to four picspams and taking up less room on your friend list thingies. However, when I came to cap the first episode - I ended up with more caps than I did for the ENTIRE MINI-SERIES. In perspective - more caps from 42 minutes or so than from 3 whole hours. Yeah.

I feel it is my duty to warn you all that the next few entries (apart from my last [profile] digitalart100 thing) will most likely be BSG centred. In particular, Laura Roslin centred. You have been warned. If you're not a fan of this, you have three options:

1 - Ignore them all (which will make me sad)
2 - Look at them for the pretty and the snark (which there will most likely be)
3 - Buy the mini-series so you know who I'm talking about (it costs about £6 and you know it's worth it!)

So, of course, there will be spoilers for the particular BSG episode in each picspam. You have been warned. Today, it is the turn of 33.

The new rich-text editor is quite scary, isn't it? I've never used it before...

33 - 1
So, here we have the first cap of the day. It establishes that Laura has a shiny, shiny desk and that people do work for her, and that she is a nice person. Also, she now has bloody gorgeous hair. It's all red and pretty. Plot bit: Galactica plus other surviving ships keep having to jump around the universe to escape the cylons, who are finding them every 33 minutes (and I seriously hope 33 has a deeper meaning, like the octagonal-ness of everything should do, otherwise the cylons are made to be weird - hello? 33 is so random. *loves it*) and so everyone keeps having to jump about some more. No-one has slept for about 5 days. Laura, of course, looks stunning and together. This is somewhat irritating as she looks better with 5 days of not sleeping than I do - well, ever, really.

33 - 2
Here is a picture and I can't remember what's happening in it. She looks pretty and is smiling though, so we will just leave it there and admire her hair.

33 - 3
Alas and alack, the re-count of the only living peoples in the human race goes down. Laura changes the number on the whiteboard. I include this picture because it illustrates her previously mentioned gorgeous hair and also Mary McDonnell's writing. With the numbers. And the pretty hair.

33 - 4
This makes Laura sad-faced. I gape at the screen, because Mary McDonnell is somehow capable of transmitting infinite numbers of emotions with her eyes closed. This is quite a feat, and makes me love her some more.

33 - 5
Baltar comes over to interfere and be crazy. Laura makes this face, which I am choosing to call her "For frak's sake, the crazy is interrupting my sanity! Make it end!" face. Note that it is remarkably composed and controlled, where I would be staring at the twitching, sweating, thin, jumpy man with his odd jerky speech mannerisms and looking somewhat like a slack-jawed fool confronted with a mad man. Which...wouldn't be too far from the truth, really. I'm growing to like Baltar though - don't get me wrong, he hurts/upsets my Laura and he will die before he can explain, but his sarcasm amuses me and his interactions with Six are love.

33 - 5
Eventually, Baltar sods off to have sex with his imaginary girlfriend in his imaginary house and Laura wonders aloud if he is insane. Only she puts it in the nice way. Billy, however, just makes cuckoo noises and Laura smiles. I die a little because of their ridiculous cuteness.

33 - 6
Sadly, a whole ship worth of people is left behind on one of the cylon escaping jumps. A ship that happens to be carrying 1300 people. This scene kills me a little inside; Laura is near tears and then says in this little, little voice "ok, next crisis" - and Billy has some more things to tell her, and as he's rambling on about whatever, she is standing there, listening, and just looking like she's breaking inside while no-one can see her.

33 - 8
On the phone to Adama senior about...something (ok, I paid attention at the time, but now? It's alllll about the screencaps). Whatever is happening, it warrants a tired, tired smile and that is the reason you get this picture. She has a nice smile. I'd like to point out that, although you obviously can't see it in the picture, her voice is all crackly and hoarse with lack of sleep. Oh, somewhere in this scene, Adama stops talking and she checks if he's still there - 'tis sweet, that's she's not been President long enough to feel secure in her abilty to keep Commanders on the line. It makes me sad that she bestows said smile on him - and he can't see it.

33 - 9
Sadly, Baltar returns to talk to Laura. She...does not appear to be taking him that seriously, which is not that surprising, considering what a state he's in at the moment - and in this picture, he looks like he has a hump which does not help his insane look. During this scene, he slams his hands down on the table and yells, making Laura flinch and me shriek at the screen. Oh! I just noticed now that Laura has the same picture on the wall next to the whiteboard of dooom that the pilot peoples have and touch for luck before a flight. Sad little details like this make me very happy.

33 - 10
This face is what I like to call Laura's "frak, the crazy is right" face. It is apt, because Baltar is being sensible for once - but only because he wants to save himself from being found out as having giving the cylons information. I pay little attention to him when Laura's hair shines all red and prettyful in the light, and she starts talking to Adama again. Actually, how are these people still functioning?! I can barely function if I don't get over 8 hours of sleep a day.

33 - 11
It is discovered that the cylons could be tracking the ship that was left behind and caught up with them again, and it all comes down to Laura's word as to whether they should make it go ka-boom or not. She gets torn because there might be people still alive - but eventually, she decides that they should explode it and provide further angst for Lee. She looks so tired here...I just wanted to reach through the screen and hug her. I spend a lot of time telling the tv peoples to hug her. Does that make me as mad as Baltar and his imaginary sex life?

33 - 12
As everything comes to an end for this episode, the right choice appears to have been made by shooting up the ship - no cylons for 24 hours. I have to say though, after about 12 of those hours, I would be sleeping. Next to an alarm thing, in case they came back, but another 24 hours after 5 days without sleep? No. Anyway, Laura is sitting down in her tired, tired state and she sends Billy away so she can stare into space on her own but before he goes, he tells her that a baby was born on one of the ships. Laura goes over to the whiteboard of dooom and adds one to the number of people. As she turns away she does this thing that is just too intricate to put into words; she's relieved and thankful and upset, smiling and almost crying and it takes me this picture and the next two to even attempt to explain/show it. She does this kind of knee bending-joy/billions of other emotions, and I remember just how much I love her.

33 - 13
These two pictures are dodgy quality, because it faded to black on Laura's deep emoting. Stupid choices.
33 - 14

These screencaps have been cleaned up and made easier to see in Photoshop. Screencaps are my own.

Was this fun too? Will these start getting dull if I do too many of them?

You. win. at life. Seriously darling, I can't even put your brilliance into words.

I don't especially like "33," but Roslin's hair is gorgeous, especially in the "for frak's sake, the crazy is interrupting my sanity" picture. Oh, and you will like Baltar. You will. *determined*

Mary's expression in the fourth picture reminds me so much of her performance in Dances With Wolves, which you have to see. You also have to see Passion Fish, because film!Mary love is a powerful thing that everyone should experience.

Laura/Billy (wrong. So wrong, but hot) is adorable love, especially in "Bastille Day," when she teases him about Dee. And why, why, why must Billy be doomed? I almost want him to be a cylon, so we can see him again.

These will never get dull. Trust me. Oh, and if you think you have a lot of screencaps from this episode? Wait till you're screencapping "Colonial Day."

WTF italics?!

I need to start off by saying - hellooooo!! *clings* And I win at life. *basks*

Moving on. Baltar - yes, I will like him. I do like him. It's just knowledge of him doing nasty things to Laura in later episodes that put me off. But I do like him because everyone thinks he's insane (because he is) and he's all twitchy and snarky and has a hot imaginary girlfriend.

I will see Mary in films, do not worry! Although I absolutely have to buy people birthday presents now (yeah, the same people I was telling you about - Roslin won the first two moral dilemmas) but when I can buy/Rent things again, I will watch her in films.

I have seen up to Bastille Day! And I may need to marry Laura. I love her relationship (not.in.that.sense) with Billy; it's so sweet!

There are 215 screencaps for 33. Will there be more for Colonial Day?

Don't worry about italics, they look pretty even when random.

Ahhhh I know who she looks like!! Arlene Phillips from Strictly Dance Fever...that's kind of why I can't completely surrender to the pretty.

You think all is fab! (This is lucky for you, because there are 13 episodes in the first season. I may or may not cap them all.)

*loves you too*

Your icon = one of the pictures! *dances* And is pretty and has angst.

NEVER GET DULL? Shall I take that as an 'ok' to go ahead and do one of these for the whole of season one? (because I may very well be doing that).
