I think we can all agree that subject line basically sums up my life. WELL DONE, MOOG.

ANYWAY. It has got to the point where I am avoiding the front page of LJ with its judgmental "it's been THIS long since you last posted, did you know?" and I have just braced myself to check and it has STOPPED TELLING YOU THAT, that is how long I have not posted for. Two months! It has been two months! Hello and welcome to my life of vague incompetency.

In the time I have been ~absent, I started university and, okay, somehow I am doing the best degree because GUYS I AM TOTALLY WRITING AN ESSAY ABOUT HOW MARK AND WARDO ARE BOYFRANS. AN ESSAY. FOR CREDIT. ABOUT THEIR LOVE. It is also about dear Sorkin, what is your deal with these female characters, why are you this way, so essentially I have won the degree jackpot, y/y? I am doing Film and American Studies, so a) I will never be employed ever but also b) AMAZING. Admittedly at the moment in one of my modules I am trapped in comedy pre-sound film insanity, but SOON we will catch up to sound in the movies and my life will just get dramatically better. For a time there, we were doing, like, the earliest films, and they were REALLY SHORT AND INSANE and our screening blocks for this module are three hours long, and let me tell you now, three hours of thirty-second-long black and white silent films will do STRANGE THINGS to your mind.

Anyway.

What also happened in those two months is that I signed up for tsnsecretsanta and then FORGOT TO DO A DEAR SANTA LETTER, oh my god, glorious unknown santa I am ridiculously sorry and obviously a terrible person. I am super easy to please! Also this is so late I wouldn't even dream of being like THESE SPECIFIC THINGS, I DEMAND THEM. Basically, I just like it when people are HAPPY and GOOD TO EACH OTHER. :D? I also ridiculously have a thing for people crying and then getting hugged in fic (also in everything, I mean what shut up) but HAPPY ENDINGS? HAPPY THINGS? HAPPY? TSN or RPF both fine! I love both! AUs are fine. Porn is fine. EVERYTHING IS FINE I LOVE YOU SECRET SANTA I AM SORRY I AM A RUBBISH RECIPIENT. D: BASICALLY JUST THANK YOU I LOVE YOU THE END. ♥

I love the lights and the decorations and the chill in the air (which, get on that, UK, I don't even need a coat djkfgdjh what is this shit, WHY IS WINTER NOT COMING) and the Coca Cola adverts and ALL the Christmas adverts and carols and gingerbread and pink cheeks from being outside and wearing scarves and smelling pine trees and red and green and seasonal coffee drinks (GINGERBREAD LATTES FOREVER) and department store window displays and wrapping paper and Christmas cards and picking out presents and then getting presents and SMILES and Christmas songs and Christmas movies and THE MUPPETS' CHRISTMAS CAROL and blue skies on cold days and then eventually SNOW and ICE and oh my god, Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas. It should be noted that in my head, the seasons run sping, summer, autumn, CHRISTMAS, January/February. I have just put on a Christmas song. YOU GUYS, CHRISTMAS. CHRISTMAS. CHRISTMAS.

I also feel the need to point out that at the time these texts were sent, Lal and I were sitting on the same sofa, approximately 0.5 of a inch apart. COOLEST PEOPLE EVER.

THIS SEEMS LIKE A GOOD TIME TO MENTION THE CHRISTMAS GAME. Basically, this came about because my mother is not the world's biggest fan of Christmas and I clearly, you know, feel slightly differently, and so whenever we were out somewhere together I would point to whatever Christmas display or Christmas aisle I saw and go "CHRISTMAS! :D :D :D" and she would go "NOPE I CANNOT SEE ANYTHING". This game starts when shops start putting out Christmas things, or advertising Christmas specials, and continues at an increasingly ridiculous rate until, you know, the Christmas things go away. You can imagine what fun this is for other people in, say, mid-December, when Christmas has exploded in a mass of tinsel and wrapping paper injuries into the world and liberally coated everything with RED AND GREEN RAINBOWS, but it remains an endless source of delight to me, because CHRISTMAS.

EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY THE CHRISTMAS GAME WITH MEEEEEE. And if you don't celebrate Christmas, play the winter-is-awesome/winter-holiday-of-your-choice game! Lots of things I associate with Christmas are not actually specifically about Christmas (e.g. COLD WEATHER! SNOW! SCARVES!) but as, like, November --> early January falls under my blanket single-minded HOMG CHRISTMAS I have just incorporated them into my Christmas spirit in a sort of Christmas explosion. Which is greedy of me. But they are still awesome! Winter is awesome! PICK A WINTER-THEMED GAME AND PLAY IT. GO GO GO. SPREAD SOME HOLIDAY AND/OR WINTER CHEER WITH MEEEEEEE.

I JUST HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS, OKAY. Also, a Christmas card post! I will put one up soon and be like CARDS FOR EVERYONE, so if you would like a Christmas/winter card from me, they are AVAILABLE TO YOU. I will do a post with screened comments soon for CARD DELIGHTS :D

On the topic of FEELINGS, I am reading Game of Thrones for the first time! I watched the show earlier this year and basically fell into a mass of BUT THE STAAAAAAARKS HJSDGFHSDFG COME TO ME NORTHERN BRETHREN but held off on reading the books because there are TOO MANY PEOPLE and they all have WEIRDLY SIMILAR AND RIDICULOUS FANTASY NAMES. This is a problem I have with a lot of fantasy books (YOUR NAMES ARE RIDICULOUS AND INTERCHANGEABLE HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE) but usually I power through and by the end am fiercely defending name choices etc etc. I am aware this is stupid. ANYWAY. The fact that the Song of Ice and Fire series is approximately never-ending long also probably had something to do with my NOPE reflex. BUT. I have started, and it is AMAZING, and I have ALL THE FEELINGS IN THE WORLD. It definitely helps that I have a visual for who these people are otherwise I would be completely lost and flailing (fucking Lannisters, TYRION AND TWYIN ARE NOT DIFFERENT ENOUGH NAMES etc). Also I love books with maps at the beginning! I particularly love books with maps at the beginning that include A LOT OF PLACES on the map, rather than just a rough idea of how the geography works. fksdhjg I have forgotten the point of this paragraph, but essentially: GAME OF THRONES: IT IS EXCELLENT.

ALSO I feel I should mention before I end this post without mentioning it and Lal shouts at me for being rubbish, I went to invade laliandra's home again for a few days last week and one day we watched seven episodes of Band of Brothers, which were EMOTIONALLY GRUELLING, and I made a series of terrible noises and hid further under the quilt. And then Lal told me more about her TSN/BoB au head canon and I pulled the quilt over my head and refused to come out at all because EVERYTHING WAS TERRIBLE, OH MY GOD, LAL Y U DO THIS. Trauma aside, Lal has somehow allowed me back in her home despite the fact that I steal all the sofa and keep her up talking nonsense until stupid times of the morning (6 am is a totally valid bedtime) and can't cook and she continues to be the best thing ever. THERE. LOOK LAL I HAVE WRITTEN A THING. :D? :D? :D?

OH MY GOODNESS I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT CHRISTMAS. I refuse to start Christmas before Remembrance stuff is finished but on Monday I started playing and singing Christmas carols VERY LOUDLY INDEED and now I just want to make all the plans and buy all the presents. And yesterday I wore a scarf for the first time this season! It is getting cold and I am genuinely excited because soon I will get to wear thick jumpers and boots and pick out a Christmas tree and spend ages putting all of the decorations on it and wrapping paper and gift tags and mince pies and ice skating and Love Actually and DID I MENTION THE CHRISTMAS CAROLS THEY ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE.

This is WONDERFUL NEWS because most people have either read them all or aren’t going to and I am scared of spoilers so much I haven’t gone near the fandom, so basically I am just reading all alone in my bedroom and also in Starbucks and then making LJ posts about how much I love this party I am 10 years late for and no one else is still at. But isn’t it just amazing and excellent? I just bought the third yesterday in a fit of pique. STAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRKSSSSS. WINTERFELL! Ahaha I actually really love fantasy names, the names and the narrative style AND THE MAPS made me love A Game of Thrones by the second chapter. But omg don’t you find it absolutely bloody maddening that there is no map of where Danaerys is?! A Clash Of Kings has SIX MAPS at the beginning (!!! Surely a cause for rejoicing) but still not one for Dany’s travels and travails. WHAT IS THIS FUCKERY I NEED A COMPLETED SET OF MAPS GODDAMMIT. Oh hey I just remembered, if you find the names tricky, at the back they have whole lists of who everyone is and how they are related etc etc for reference, which I didn’t realise until I’d read the preceeding what 800 pages of A Game of Thrones.
