It all works now (hurrah!). It's taking a bit of getting used to - do you remember when I was typing something up on your Mac last summer and kept shouting at the @ being where the " should be? THAT IS STILL ANNOYING ME.

Any little fun Mac tips for me?

Things that will take getting used to:
- the @/" thing, inorite, it's hugely annoying for a couple of weeks but then your fingers just adapt. (I now get confused when typing on PCs instead.)
- Not being able to right-click. Again, I now control-click everything on PCs and get massively confused when it doesn't work.
- as we said earlier, no delete key. This is mildly irritating for a little while and then you just stop trying to delete stuff, and backspace on autopilot instead.
- There is no "filmstrip" viewing option for files, and also no option where you can see little thumbnails of what your pictures actually are (as opposed to thumbnails of the file type). WHY IS THIS, APPLE. I HAVE NEVER QUITE COME TO TERMS WITH THIS ONE.

HOWEVER. The first three are only an issue for a couple of weeks at the most, and, well, I've learnt to live without the fourth. THE PROS MAKE UP FOR ALL OF THIS. My tips are:
- STICKIES ARE THE MOST AWESOME THING IN THE WORLD
- Customise the dock at the bottom of the screen so it has all the programmes you actually want to use! I didn't do this for like two months for no reason whatsover, and it made my life so much easier when I did.
- you will waste hours of your life taking retarded effects-pictures on Photobooth
- the searchbox thing in Finder is genius: I can't believe I used to have to actually click through files and folders and things to find and open stuff, tch.
- There is no print-screen button; you have to use an application called Grab instead (just search for it in Finder if you need it).
- iMovie is really awesome, if you ever need to edit anything. I'm pretty sure I only understand like the most superficial 10% of its functions, I bet it can do way more than I can even imagine, but I got it to speed stuff up and slow stuff down and add little sound effects and I mean it was the best video of our family at the beach that I ever made.

I have cunningly set up a right-click area on the trackpad, so that is not lost to me! Hoorah! This made me smile for a good five minutes, and then I went around right-clicking on EVERYTHING.

Do you have that iChat thing going on? If so, I am moogle62 [at] mac [dot] com. The fact that this thing has a built-in camera and microphone is genius and yet simultaneously terrifying.

- STICKIES: just open the finder and type in "stickies" and it should come up. HOORAY.
- DOCK: select any application in the finder and drag and drop it onto the dock, and it STAYS THERE. It's sort of disproportionately exciting! If you right-click anything that is already in the dock, there'll be a "remove from dock" option. Thus: add and take away whatever you want! (Apart from the Finder, which you can't remove. Or the trash.)

iChat: I... am not even entirely sure what this is! So the answer is presumably "no I don't". This may well happen in the future!
