oh my god, okay, THE UNIVERSE IS JUST LAUGHING AT ME AT THIS POINT. I am, like, unnaturally dependent on my laptop for, like, life, and a while ago, because I am a gigantic, rivaling-Bella-Swan, type klutz, I dropped it. ONLY I caught it, sort of awkwardly, and the only damage I did was separating the two bits of my charger from each other. Hang on, this is going to need pictorial representation.

BUT YOU GUYS, THIS IS A GIGANTIC ISSUE IN MY LIFE, I SWEAR. It started out, like, both of those parts still stuck together, and I'd already bought a new charger this year because the one that came with the computer ended up with the plastic wire casing, like, fraying or smth and it started just spitting electricity at me - and this was when the Holmes big bang I was writing was due in like the next day or something, and I was losing my mind. So, I was initially loathe to buy a new charger straight away when I first broke this one - because, like, those things are ~£50 and it was still working and holding together and everything - WHICH WAS A MISTAKE, I ADMIT. ANYWAY, it got to a point of ridiculousness earlier this week, when even though both parts of the charger were connected to the computer, it wasn't registering that it was plugged in, so I manned up and just ordered a new one - this was, like, on Monday - AND IT STILL ISN'T HERE AND IT SAID IT WOULD BE HERE BY YESTERDAY AND THE CHARGER NOW ONLY WORKS IF I PUT THE WIRE IN A STUPID POSITION AND/OR MANUALLY HOLD IT TOGETHER AND SOMETIMES NOT EVEN THEN AND I AM LOSING MY MIND A LITTLE BIT AND ALSO TRYING TO WRITE THE BAKERY FIC AND AkjgdhjgshjfghsdgfshSHDGFJHSGDFJHGF SOBBING.

This is like the most melodramatic post ever. BUT I AM WRINGING MY HANDS AND I CANNOT REVEAL THIS LUNACY TO ACTUAL PEOPLE, SO SORRY LJ, YOU GET THE BRUNT OF THIS CRAZED RANT.

edit: ALSO, the problem I am facing when the charger does eventually get here is that the magnetic bit is magneted into the laptop and the main charger bit won't stick to it any more, so HOW AM I GOING TO GET THE MAGNET OUT TO PUT THE NEW CHARGER IN?? UGH. WHYYY. /o\

At least your laptop works on battery? I had a similar thing happen with my last laptop, twice, and the biggest problem for me was that by that point my battery life was approximately twenty-three seconds, so I couldn't even use the fucking thing without power. Can you at least, like, tape it in place or something and leave it to charge while you sleep, so you get a few hours out of it in the morning?

That is exactly the noise I was making immediately after this post, when my charger actually just died completely and I was forced to sit and twiddle my thumbs and stare crazily at the door and wait for the postman. I stole my step-dad's power lead in the middle of the night to read fic. BUT homg, I don't know how I would have coped without that/my relatively good battery life, I really feel for you. DDD:

THIS WAS MY LIFE TWO WEEKS AGO

MY MAC CHARGER JUST GAVE UP AND QUIT WORKING AND I DIDN'T WANT TO GO TO THE APPLE STORE TO BUY A NEW ONE BECAUSE THEY COST $79 SO I BOUGHT ONE ON EBAY EXCEPT WHEN I ORDERED IT ON EBAY IT CAME THREE DAYS LATE AND I WENT A WEEK WITHOUT LIVEJOURNAL WHICH BASICALLY JUST TURNED INTO ROCKING IN FETAL POSITION IN THE CORNER WHILE MY FAMILY STARED ON IN CONFUSEMENT.

I HOPE IT GETS TO YOU VERY SOON AND I WOULD SUGGEST PLIERS FOR THE MAGNETIC BIT.

The power lead got to me on Monday. I SPENT ALL WEEKEND GOING A BIT MENTAL but now that is behind me, thank god.

MY MOTHER GOT THE MAGNETIC BIT OUT WITH A KNIFE. I ASKED HER TO DO IT WHILE I WAS AT WORK, BECAUSE I AM RUBBISH AT ALL PRACTICAL TASKS AND ALSO COULD NOT WATCH A KNIFE GOING ANYWHERE NEAR MY LAPTOP W/O SOBBING LIKE A MOTHERLESS INFANT.
