#most disjointed and ridiculous post ever! HOORAY.
First of all, I have a thread up at
help_japan here, if anyone wants to go bid! I mean, it feels a bit weird being like "three people might want to maybe bid on me?" but W/E W/E, if anyone does want to bid, please do! I will write fic like there is no tomorrow.
SECONDLY! I watched The Village again the other night, and - okay, so, just, I love this film, first of all. I remember watching it when I was like 13/14 and, like, ~impressionable~, and I remember it was the first time I cried at a film because of the score. JAMES NEWTON HOWARD, YOU HAVE RUINED ME. Seriously. SOBS OF PURE EMOTION. Anyway, it means a lot to me in, like, my ~film history~, and I hadn't watched it since I was about 15, and I just wept my way through it. Bryce Dallas Howard never fails to blow me away in this film. AND LET'S NOT FORGET JOAQUIN PHOENIX EITHER. I know the general consensus on M. Night Shyamalan is not overwhelmingly positive these days, but this - I love this.
BUT THIS RAMBLING IS NOT MY POINT. MY POINT IS:

LET'S EXAMINE THAT IMAGE AGAIN SHALL WE?
1) FRAN KRANZ. TOPHER FUCKING BRINK, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. AND WHO IS THAT SITTING OPPOSITE HIM?
2) OH IT'S JESSE EISENBERG.
akjgdjhegfhjsdgfjhsdgf oh my god, you should have seen how I flailed myself off the sofa. #never any dignity ever. I mean, I am relatively sure I am late to the party on this one, but still. I am writing both my
jossverse_bb and also the bakery au right now, so that was just like FANDOM SMASH: THE LAST THREE MONTHS OF MY LIFE EDITION.
ANYWAY. I also wrote a thing, which is like ~400 words and ridiculous and I shall put it here in a separate post, just - idek, for the sake of inclusion and togetherness or something. MOVING ON.
god this post is so disjointed. I haven't slept properly since Christmas!
A few brief bulletpoints re: Greek:
- the last time I watched this, I was so insanely overworked and exhausted I can't even adequately explain it, so watching it again now is actually really nice, because it feels like I am actively watching it rather than just grabbing desperately at anything that isn't work.
- ALSO there is nothing on Region 2 dvd beyond the first ten episodes of s1, what is that about? ugh ugh ugh.
- WHY DO I LIKE CAPPIE SO MUCH, I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS AT ALL. When I first started watching, I remember being like "ugh what is this, who is this guy, why do we need another contrived plot when Casey is already with Evan?" (~deep thoughts~) BUT SOMEHOW I DID THE MOST EXTREME 180 EVER. I don't understand it at all, but there we go. His face! His not entirely displeasing rest of him! BUT MOSTLY HIS FACE.
- reserving judgement on Rebecca Logan so that
lovestories doesn't snap and beat me to death with a broom or something
- Casey is somehow my favourite. SPENCER GRAMMER, YOUR FACE MAKES ME GO STUPID. She's so happy! And perky! But also calculating! Like a slightly Machiavellian kitten! idek.
- LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE CALVIN AND ASHLEIGH, because it's a lot.
- don't care about Rusty, won't care about Rusty.
ALSO, I am genuinely and completely blown away by the comments on the bakery au. YOU GUYS. <333 I don't even know, just, THANK YOU to everyone who has said such lovely things, I am trying to get round and reply to all the comments, I promise. As a few people have friended me since (which, come say hi! I was going to say this post isn't a great representation of my sanity, but then, um, it actually really is. My sock just fell off my foot the other day all by itself. I am not a together person, let us say) and since I've been getting the updating swing back this year, I thought I'd do that five things not everyone knows about me meme! ~deeply interesting at all times~
1) I can roll my tongue into the shape of a three-leaf clover.
2) Asking me to choose a favourite film would be like asking me to choose a toe I didn't mind being cut off, which is to say, puzzling and painful, but if I were pushed, I could name two as joint extra-favourites. One is Spirited Away. The other is THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE. ("GROOOOOOOOVE") I have watched that film more times than is sensible or maybe socially acceptable.
3) I am hyper-flexible but not double jointed, so while I am all bendy in weird ways - like, I can bend my fingers back so they're parallel with the line of my forearm - I'm not actually impressively bendy.
4) I am currently writing seven different tsn fics. SEVEN. This is also the reason I might actually flunk my Spanish exam on Friday, but I REGRET NOTHING.
5) I have a weird addiction to Big Fish Games. I just downloaded and finished Phantasmat, which was A++++. I also really really loved Date Warp, from Hanako Games. Relevant to everyone's interests: a visual, sort of choose your own adventure, novel; the plot: on a date with this guy, the car crashes in a storm, you take shelter in a weird big house nearby only to discover ~weirdness~ afoot; also staying in the house: a super-intelligent scientist who has a weirdly ~intense~ relationship with his super pretty servant/friend/ROLE UNKNOWN. MANY ENDINGS TO UNLOCK. MANY DELIGHTS ALSO. RAFAEL/LINDS MAKES MY SOUL HAPPY.
WHAT EVEN IS THIS POST, oh my god, I am too tired to be allowed on the internet. ~dubious decisions to post things of dubious quality~

Date: 2011-03-21 10:31 pm (UTC)I spent literally hours mindlessly playing it and occasionally bellowing 'RASPBERRIES DON'T GROW ON TREES' at the screen whilst aforementioned housemate laughed at me. It was so unrewarding and yet so compelling!
(Good luck with your Spanish exam!)

Omg, you're just like my cousin -he does things with his fingers, good god, that's incredible. Unlike him (and you, then !), I'm quite stiff, it's not even funny. D:
"4) I am currently writing seven different tsn fics. SEVEN. This is also the reason I might actually flunk my Spanish exam on Friday, but I REGRET NOTHING."
This ! Seven at once, gosh, I admire you. I'm still struggling with writing one fanfiction, so, seven ... good luck with your Spanish exam, I know how it feels ahaha;;

Date: 2011-03-22 08:10 pm (UTC)(And I kinda like it too--I have MAJOR issues with his dialogue, but it's Roger Fucking Deakins, for Chrissake--the scene where he grabs her hand and they run in slow-mo and then they're under the floor and the light plays on their faces and then it just sloooowly pans down and they're still holding hands and I'm just like OH DEAR GOD ASDJASHDJFASO AMAZING and then I die. Um. Just sayin'.)
And fuck yeah, Emperor's New Groove. Will always be amazing. The end.

I THINK THAT ADEQUATELY EXPRESSES THE SOUND IN MY HEAD.
I love her. She was the reason I watched this at all when it first came out! ELLEN RIPLEY WAS MY ROLE MODEL AT SOME POINT. oh my god, okay, I need to shut this madness down. Okay. Apologies.
asgdhsfh the whole thing about your cousins working on it/being in it is AMAZING, and HI random super-hot Ukrainian guy, and basicles WHAT. HOW. AMAZING. YOU TOTALLY HAVE ~CONNECTIONS~ Maybe they did meet Jesse though? I mean, he's in some of the big group scenes. There's this split-second shot of him dancing awkwardly at the wedding scene that made my life, I should totally cap that too. Mostly I pretend a large part of the dialogue doesn't exist, except also I am forever 14 and will never stop thinking the scene on the porch in the middle of the night with Lucius and Ivy is the most romantic thing ever.
(THAT. SCENE. WHEN HE GRABS HER HAND AND THE MUSIC KICKS UP AND THEY RUN TO THE TRAPDOOR AND THEN THE WHOLE PAN DOWN AND AJSGFJHSDGFHJGJHS ugh ugh this film was like the first time I remember thinking that films could be more than something sort of fun to do now and then, you know? ~special moments in time~)
AND EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE. MY FAVOURITE FOREVER. I swear I say the line from your icon at least once a week. Along with "why do we even have that lever?" and "I WAS THE NICEST GUY IN THE WORLD AND THEY RUINED MY LIFE FOR NO REASON" and "and then I'll put that box in a box, and then I'll mail it to myself, and when it arrives - I'LL SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER". ajsdjhdsgfj ugh ugh I have seen this film too many times. When I was doing my A-levels, I watched it once a day for like a whole week, just to restore my sanity in the midst of revision meltdown. <3333

Date: 2011-03-22 11:17 pm (UTC)Oh, girl, you have NO IDEA: two of my friends had that last quote (SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER) on the adjoining senior pages in the yearbook. And a gentlemen with whom I used to live and I were obsessed--for a while there not a day went by when one of us didn't say something snarky/bitchy/insulting and then follow it up with "...huh? I didn't do anything. Somebody's throwin' stuff." And then when we were about to move out (;____;) we decided to polish off a bottle of schnapps we still had lying around by watching it and drinking every time they said "llama." We finished the bottle, like, a third of the way in. Oh, it was so good. SO BASICALLY, YEAH. IT IS GOOD TIMES. <3 [/nerd]

Date: 2011-03-25 03:39 pm (UTC)ALSO I actually noticed Scarily Large Beard guy when I watched the movie! EXCITING. and I sort of like M Night anyway, despite, er, all the things. IDK I JUST REALLY LIKED THE VILLAGE AT AN IMPRESSIONABLE AGE.
"... huh? I didn't do anything. Somebody's throwing stuff" is the BEST. Along with the balloon bursting not waking up the panthers/jaguars/giant killer cats of some description and then "HAH!". AND THE SCENE WHERE THEY'RE CLIMBING BACK UP THE CLIFF-FACE AND THE WHOLE THING WITH THE BATS IN THE FACE, oh my god, I think I broke something laughing at that.

Date: 2011-03-23 04:40 am (UTC)When creepily looking through your journal for more tsn fic, I saw that you liked Howl's Moving Castle and I feel myself morally obligated to tell you to read the book if you haven't yet. It is amazing and convoluted and british and written by Diane Wynne Jones, a god of fantasy, and a thing to reread until you die. Ahem.
I've never seen The Village, but when it came out my friend explained it as a love story between blind!Hermione and Lucius Malfoy, with Snape being well meaning and crazy in the background, and Harry helping out from the real world at some point. Is this accurate? (and is blond Adrian Brody the Lucius approximation? xD)
hi! <333
Date: 2011-03-25 03:48 pm (UTC)And I really want to read Howl's Moving Castle! I hear it's quite different to the film? I just want more Howl and Sophie in my life, tbh. SOPHIE IS AWESOME. HOWL IS THE BIGGEST DRAMA QUEEN EVER.
The Village - DEFINITELY blind!Hermione, but I'm not sure about Lucius Malfoy - I think I would have said Lucius [the Joaquin Phoenix character is also called Lucius, confusingly] was more Harry (he has this whole HELPING PEOPLE!!! ESPECIALLY THE GIRL I LOVE!!!!! thing going on but then he is also somewhat socially stunted, so, um, idkkkkkkk, this is tricky. maybe Neville?). I think blond Adrian Brody would be Snape, but, um. IDK IDK IDK. SEE IT AND THEN COME BACK AND TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS, I CANNOT MAKE DECISIONS BY MYSELF.
