O flist, I have a query for you:

Does Lent begin on Ash Wednesday, or the Friday after? I remember a big debate about this in one of my Religious classes during my GCSEs and not actually paying any attention to what was decided. SO I TURN TO YOU.

Unexpectedly Doctor Who themed, with Bonus Mark Gatiss (Mark Gatiss is always expected)

This made me spack like an idiot the first time I saw it, and still does - nnnngh, I love Tennant's face. And Catherine Tate! She has slooooowly grown on me, and now I quite like her. PLUS SHE IS PRETTY. I am such a shallow.

When I was little, I used to have this video that was like some random cartoon character cataloguing various Disney songs, which was BRILLIANT, and ranged from Mary Poppins to that bit in Pinocchio when he does a little dance on stage with a ton of different cultures, including some can-can girls. AND THIS ONE. AFK. Go go go, toad! I was particularly pleased to see this pop up as a recommendation for me on YouTube this week, mainly because lo0o0ony_lauren and I watched the adaptation with Gatiss and Lee Ingleby a couple of days a go and went completely mental. SO. SINGING. GO GO GO.

Speaking of GO GO GO: GO JOHNNY GO GO GO GO.

Seeing this on television, on, like, that kids behind-the-scenes thing, made me have a little spack in front of my sister, who just couldn't comprehend why I was going slightly mad. JOHN. TENNANT. CAKE. THEY ARE SO HAPPY. AND SUCH IIIIIDIOTS ♥

Something else that rendered lo0o0ony_lauren and I unable to really cope with life in any way at all during this last week was this clip. AFGH MARK AND REESON. JSHDKJASBFKJABFKJABFJABF I LOVE THEM SO HARD. Sadly, when we then watched The Worst Journey In the World, in a big weeping pile of mush, we couldn't take it seriously for a bit because of this. HOWEVER, then we started crying because it all went HORRIFICALLY UPSETTING, and then we stopped thinking about this sketch.

THE END OF THIS CLIP IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS TO HAPPEN, EVER. Nnnngh.

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent. Because technically (I think) everything Holy Thursday and after is not officially Lent. I think. Possibly. But Lent definitely begins on Ash Wednesday.

also, fwiw, the way I remember that Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent is that the reason for Shrove Tuesday is using up all the nice things (via the exciting medium of PANCAKES) you are about to give up for Lent. One last bit of fun before it all goes a bit gads, you might say.

NOM NOM NOM PANCAKES

This year I am giving up dairy for Lent - not because I am a MASSIVE GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT, but because I need to give up dairy for a bit anyway, by doctor recommendation, to see if it makes any difference to M.E., and I thought, hey, why do not it over Lent, and then at least there's a finite period of it and I GET EASTER EGGS AT THE END.

Yeah, I think it's a bug. Did indeed take the day off, and had a v pleasant time finally watching the Doctor Terrible's House of Horrible DVD my friend Liam leant me before Christmas.
Gatiss: "They sent the script to me while we were on tour: my agent said, 'Do you want to play a Chinese villain in this horror pastiche?' and I was like, 'I will pay them...'" <3

He also geeks out about Doctor Who in the commentary and my brain goes PHUT PHUT PHUT.

Spnnng, I may need that in my life. The dvd, not the bug. (I have a cold. Admittedly this is not as hideous as your stomach bug, but it is still fucking annoying. I HAVE BLOWN MY NOSE MORE TIMES TODAY THAN ANYONE SHOULD EVER FREAKING HAVE TO BLOW THEIR NOSE. I HAVE KILLED RAINFORESTS WITH MY TISSUE CONSUMPTION. Together we clearly win at health.)
