Thank you! I'm sure you would have done, so there.
I...also assume I'll be doing something Classics-y: we haven't actually been told exactly what we'll be doing. Whatever it is, it falls under the umbrella of 'humanities', so, I'm sure it will be good. :D
...I am completely unprepared for the Latin exams. I've revised how to translate all my Ovid and Cicero, but I haven't even looked at Latin language... :S
(I probably would have, though, if my Latin teacher hadn't sprung a surprise unseen on us before study leave, in which I got 78/90, so I'm ok with it if I get that in the exam.)
I am still ploughing epic-ly through Tacitus, and fighting some flu/gastric thing, which is FUN, let me tell you. I'm doing a bit of language-y stuff on Tuesday, and then just hoping for the best. :S
Thank you! I definitely went all :DDD when I got the email (DUDE CAMBRIDGE).
I'll be doing something to do with 'humanities', as that is the 'area of interest' I circled on the sheet thing. Seriously, we've had v. little information about it - my friends were in the meeting thing where it was explained in a bit more detail (I assume), and then they gave me a form to fill out and said "do this", so, er, I wrote a little box of LIES in order to answer the "what do you hope to get out of this?" question (my answer is actually "I HEART LATIN CAN WE DO DEAD LANGUAGES MOAR also I need something to put on my personal statement I have never had a job and have no interests or personality halp halp").
I am sure you will have a fantastic time, whatever the hell it is you end up actually doing there! Cambridge is such a lovely place omg. Bizarrely, when I finally decided I wasn't going to apply, the bit that made me saddest was OH BUT THE BEAUTIFUL SPIRES OF THE CITY, I WILL NOT SEE THEM IN MY DAILY LIFE.
Also, your personal statement will be fiiiine. I've never had a job either, and it didn't seem to do me any harm! oh god I wish I had a job why do I have no money Frankly, writing in coherent sentences will probably make you stand out.
Frankly, writing in coherent sentences will probably make you stand out: I AM SCREWED.
See, see, I keep being told that Cambridge as a city is nicer than Oxford, but I have this inexplicable raging Oxford-shaped blind-spot, and just keep going BRIDESHEAD and BIG PRETTY BUILDINGS and COBBLES and JUDE THE OBSCURE only that last one is really sad so no (I watched the film on Christmas Eve, having not read the book and with no-one telling me quite how depressing it would be (OH GOOD LORD), which was a stupid idea).
I HOPE YOU GET GREY'S ANATOMY SEASON 4 SOON, SOON, BECAUSE YOU WILL LOVE IT. YOU WILL HAVE IT, AND LOVE IT, AND KISS IT, AND KEEP IT AS A PET, BECAUSE IT IS JUST. THAT. AWESOME.
AND IF YOU DON'T AGREE I WILL CUT OFF ONE OF MY FINGERS. MY FINGERS.
...please love it, please, I like my fingers. :S

...Back to your regularly scheduled programming. :)
ERM ERM ERM WELL IT'S DIRTY AND GAY AND SWEET AND AMAZING.
I HOPE THAT WAS VAGUE ENOUGH.
And now I'm doing Livy for the prose unseen, The Aeneid (Book 12) for the literature paper and some person I don't remember for the verse unseen, although I do remember thinking, 'Oh, that sounds good', so it's a fair bet it wasn't Ovid. :)
...Or maybe it was Ovid and I thought it was good because I'm familiar with him? Hmmm. And one of our Latin teachers is leaving and I really like her. :(
I was reading back over old entries for some reason (do you ever do this? Am I a freak yes) and I saw this: WE ARE TOTES DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. Er, at least, I know we're both doing Book 12 for the lit. paper. YOUR THOUGHTS ON TURNUS, WHAT ARE THEY?
ALSO, WHY IS AMATA (I BELIEVE THAT IS THE NAME OF LATINUS' WIFE) LIKE BASICALLY DIDO REINCARNATED?
Hahaha I read over old entries a lot (looking at nice comments I've got makes me happy XD).
And reading my previous comment made me laugh because we ARE doing Ovid, but the Metamorphoses are SO MUCH BETTER than the Amores. SO MUCH. I'm kind of liking Turnus more than Aeneas right now, especially when he's like 'Juturna, I totally knew all along it was you, I am not stupid.'
ALSO, WHY IS AMATA (I BELIEVE THAT IS THE NAME OF LATINUS' WIFE) LIKE BASICALLY DIDO REINCARNATED?
YES YES OMG. I had this huge, sinking feeling of DESPAIR when we were doing that bit. Why are all the women in The Aeneid so USELESS?
Did you find that bit where Aeneas was chasing him around the field and Juturna was like 'LOL ESCAPING TIEM!' and then someone cut off the crest from Aeneas' helmet and he was all 'BITCH, NOT THE FEATHERS", like, insanely amusing? Also hilarious was the bit where he made his angry impassioned speech about burninating the crap out of the city and it first said that he stood on a small mound, and then it had changed into a HILL in the space of a few words.
I was just completely perplexed as to WHY Aeneas was suddenly so angry? And then I think it sort of implied that all his chariots and men were running away from him and I don't know whether I actually got the right end of the stick there because that doesn't seem to make any sense... :S
I did lol at his mound though, mostly because he was being all grand and epic...on a mound.
