"I don't care how the pixies beg"

Fly-by post time, and I should BE ASLEEP, god.

- I am (clearly) no longer in Greece: pictures should be coming soon, maybe, and, er, more talkings on this topic. For now, Greece = awesome but Athens was the scariest place, I swear. HOW IS THAT CITY SO BIG? On the top of the Acropolis, I took roughly umpteen zillion pictures of the Vast Sea of Athens because I couldn't quite get over how much city there was. Wows.

(this one is from the top of the Acropolis, near Athena's temple)

(this one is from the top of the Acropolis, just to the side of the Parthenon)

And that's just, like, two angles. :O

- I WANT BSG S4 RIGHT NOW. I am going a little bit insane. The Americans have seen it. The downloading people have seen it. The UK can (legally) see it next Tuesday, when it is on Sky, but I CAN'T, because my laptop doesn't have enough disc space for me to download it (on a side-note, I have, like, ~600 megabytes left on the C drive, and I'm thinking that's not good) and I don't have Sky. I NEED ME SOME LAURA ROSLIN.

And can I just say, as I don't remember if I've said this here yet, I am not spoiled for s4 of BSG. Please do not spoil me for anything. Thank you. (are the dvds out yet? plz?)

- I now have a puppy! His name is Morris, and he is a whippet, and if I never have to clean the kitchen floor again from puppy-accidents, it will be Too Soon. I still have a slight phobia of dogs, but I seem to be doing all right with this one. He's grown so much in the two weeks we've had him, it's weird. Also, I really want to wear some proper clothes again (read: clothes I like); having the dog necessitates looking after the dog, which brings me into close contact with skanky dog smell and being chewed and licked by the dog and cleaning up after the dog (ew, though not like that), so I've basically been wearing old, ripped, jeans and some variation on back-of-the-wardrobe, everything-else-is-in-my-suitcase-and-I-need-something-to-wear top, with a giant nasty sweatshirt. Mmm, fetching.

- I have just bought a student railcard (primarily because I'm bumming up for a St. Andrews Open Day in a couple of weeks, and staying with the delightful [profile] missfoxie, hurrah! but also because I plan to go see other people - Maddie, Loz, d'you fancy some Moog-time outside the OT3 gay-up? - during the summer, and, y'know, I'd quite like cheap train fares) and the photo on it makes me look like the undead.

- I just watched Sin City on the tellybox and have only got good praisings to say. :D Moog likes. Lots of voice-over/narration and heavily stylised. ftw!

- Am off to the cinema tomorrow with my mother: we don't actively want to see anything that's on, but we want to go to the cinema (dark, film, chocolate, non-dog-clothes. Yes plz). We're thinking about Son of Rambow, because if not, we're consigned to Awake or 10,000 BC (which I can't stop saying in the voice of Voiceover Dude, you know, like, TEN THOUSAND B.C.), so, er, Son of Rambow y/n?

Sleepy tiem nao. Zzzz.

[identity profile] lo0o0ony-lauren.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
Son of Rambow's meant to be good, and it looks ADORABLE, as well as having Unexpected Jessica Stevenson Hynes in it. Empire said it was lovely? Idk. But, you know, such are my thoughts on the subject.

In other news, I've totally been to St. Andrews! Er er, not the University, but the town - it's a stone's throw away from Perth, where my family are, and it's beautiful. You'll love it. (Presumably the Uni is also good...?)

Would love some Moog Time; in fact, I demand it. When'll it be? :D

Love at youuuuuu xxxxxxxxxxxx

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
IT WAS VERY GOOD SEE IT SEE IT NOW.

Hurrah, so if I end up in St. Andrews, you will have no excuse not to visit me! Ahahaha. :DD

Er, Moog-time would be sometime this summer? idk, I can do whenever, pretty much; I have no real plans other than OT3-GAY-UP. God, so looking forward to that. ♥

More love at you, Miss Groove.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ♥

[identity profile] lo0o0ony-lauren.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
If it comes recommended, I shall definitely make time to see it! Might drag [livejournal.com profile] cathamarine along with me when she comes to visit.

Hah, well, re. this summer: I'm going to Paris in late June (avec ma mére), seeing Hamlet in August, there's a chance I'll be going to visit family in Scotland at some point as well as jetting off to various Uni open days and, hopefully, going to Liverpool for a bit with [livejournal.com profile] ailcia and Maddie. Also, I work Saturdays. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, I'M TOTALLY FREE ALL THE TIME (or, at the very least, there's no awful two-week course). :D

Love love love. ♥ xxxxxxxxxxxx

Clearly we need pics of your Morris! Please?

I've not been to Greece and would love to go someday so more pics and talkings on the subject would be fine with me.

I have S4 on my harddrive but I shall make sure to spoiler cut and make a note that you're spoiler free. I've been meaning to have a play around (I have a new laptop *beams* have I told you that already? Lol) abd try burning some things to disc. Should I manage it(!) would you like me send you the series on disc?

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for understanding my insane spoiler-freeness (it is killing me). Also thank you for your wonderfully kind offer of burning and sending the episodes: however, my stupid stupidness brain doesn't like watching stuff on computers - you know, like I've watched all the others on the tellybox, and it's just a greater impact: to me, things on the computer never feel real. But thank you (a lotttt!) for your offer. :DDD

There will be pictures of Morris. He is a little sweetheart, he really is.

[identity profile] missfoxie.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I WILL HAS A MOOG IN JUST OVER A FORTNIGHT. THIS IS MADE OF WIN. *dances her special goofy dance of joy*

Those are amazing photos. It really is an enormous city, so sprawling and dense. You ever been to Rome? Thanks to this second semester of Classics, I now totally wanna go see eeeet!

You can wear pretty clothes when you see meeeeeeee. I will be wearing pretty clothes, oh yes. I hope the weather is good *has fingers crossed*. It'll probably be cold but bright, as per.

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Is your goofy dance of joy like Mary's dance of flail? I wanna see!

It is a huge city. What I found particularly awe-inspiring is when we visited the theatre of Dionysus, where Aristophanes' plays would have been performed during the festival of Dionysus; after studying the festival and the theatre in immense detail for the last couple of years, it was really, like, :O wows to be stood where all these people would have sat, and where all these plays would have been performed, and where all these different kinds of energies would have been, and, just, nnnngh. I'm talking crap. Sorry D:

I can bring the rest of the photos with me, if you like? I might not put them all here, so if you want to see more bits of Greece, I can bring them! (Also, some really daft pictures of me avec mes amis).

PRETTY CLOTHES. Did you say we were going out somewhere for dinner on the Tuesday? I CAN HAS A DRESS?

I've never been to Rome D: I really want to go. It would be amaaaaaazing.

NOMLES TIME IN 16 DAYS. ♥

[identity profile] missfoxie.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
My goofy dance is very similar to Mary's dance of flail. You probably will get to see me dance like a fool, I do it ALL the time. Even without any music at all (except the music in my head).

No, I totally understand. That's exactly how I would feel. Awe-struck by the fact that you're standing right where they did all those years ago. It's how I would be in Rome and loads of places around the world that I have read about in Medieval History (e.g. Istanbul, nee Constantinople). I mean, I was freaking out wandering out Washington DC, all those places from TWW!

Yes, bring the photos with you! I wanna seeeee! And yes, I plan on taking you out for dinner on Tuesday, so bring a pretty dress to make you happy. It'll only be somewhere like Bella Pasta or Pizza Express though, as am Poor Student. Are those places okay?

MOOG TIME IN 16 DAYS. MOOG TIME *cue MC Hammer's Hammer Time music & a matching dance from Nomles*

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I too live the goofy dance life. What music? Who needs music when limbs can be flailed?

Bella Pasta or Pizza Express are both totally fine, lovely face. And shhh your mouth, I am not letting you pay for it all. So there. (D'you know what's weird (I'm going to tell you now), I actually pictured us in Pizza Express for some reason. :O PSYCHIC).

DUH-DUH-DUH-DUH, DUH-DUH, DUH-DUH (CAN MOOG THIS).

ps: ALSO, you have seen some s4, so you can look at icon posts! Would you mind terribly scouting out [livejournal.com profile] crazyvictoria's last icon post to look for purty, non-spoilerific, Laura icons for me? I want some so much (I've just found her icons and they are amaaaaazing) but all her recent posts have spoiler warnings on and I don't wanna be spoiled! Sorry to be a nuisance pest D:

[identity profile] strangeumbrella.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
THEY SAY OF THE ACROPOLIS WHERE THE PARTHENON IS

...THAT THERE ARE NO STRAIGHT LINES

(Oh Moog, do you even watch QI, please say that you do. I apologise if not because I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD GET TO QUOTE THAT FACT IN CONTEXT.)

Also: yaye St Andrews! Unlike Loz, I know nothing at all about it, but it's probably great! I also approve greatly of both your student railcard and your offer of Moogtime. Incidentally, I have accidentally ended up with about four epic plans for this summer despite the fact that I have NO JOB, and therefore not a massive income, but it's a bit late now, and I'm still determined to do everything, so I was meaning to ask how much your ticket cost when you came to stay last year? Because depending on that, I may have to consider travelling to the ot3times by coach, or something. AS LONG AS IT HAPPENS.

ps also, since I've just also got your email and I might as well keep all the replying in one place: yes, I would love to read your livejournal coursework! :D

[identity profile] misplacedmarble.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
OHHHHHHHHHHH HELLO AGAIN.

=]]]] Welcome back from Grecian adventures and...yay for dog? XD Be glad it's not a Scottie, I actually swear THEY ARE THE DEVIL'S DOG.

Ahem.

How's life?!?

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The dog is okay. He's at least affectionate, even though he chews everything.

Life is not bad, I guess. How are youuuu? ♥

HELLO HI HI

[identity profile] misplacedmarble.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
I am good, although the looming threat of OMG EXAMS :O is ever-present.

...I UNDERSTAND CICERO NOW THOUGH.

:D

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG EXAMS make me want to cry. A lot.

...I WILL NEVER WANT TO UNDERSTAND TACITUS. HE IS SO BORING. THE SOLDIERS, THEY ARE UNHAPPY. A LOT.

[identity profile] misplacedmarble.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
TACITUS IS SO GODDAMN MONOTONOUS IT MAKES ME WANT TO BLEED FROM THE EYES.

And the only thing we do of him is the AS Unseens. (Although we did Nero & Agrippina at Latin Camp, which was quite interesting...)

What other author are you doing?

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Er, we're not doing any other author until next year. Our teacher apparently had the option of giving us half Tacitus/half other thing this year and then both the second halves next year or dividing the two years into two separate authors; I'm kind of glad he did it this way, because at least next year there will be no Tacitus.

OH HAI SOLDURS, IS U B MOOTINIES?

(I have just done an unseen about Moses. Apparently Latin people spelt that Moyses. ???)

[identity profile] misplacedmarble.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL MOYSES.

WHUT.

But yes, your Latin is DIFFERENT. :O:O:O:O *ahem* We do two authors this year and one next year, so I'm sort of drowning in Latin Literature right now.

Sooooooo...thinking about uni yet? My mum kinda forced it on me in October, but I'm glad she did. Going for Classical Studies methinks. :D

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe your two authors this year are the same length together as my godforsaken Tacitus?

Also, seeing as I've hardly been able to get in to college (blee), I've kind of been teaching myself the stupid Tactitus, which has not made it easier, believe me!

Yes, I'm thinking about uni. I'm off to a St. Andrews open day the week after next (and staying for a couple of days with the delightful [livejournal.com profile] missfoxie), and then I'm also looking into Edinburgh and Warwick. Apparently I also need one closer to home, in case I get ~*more ill*~, so possibly Leeds or Durham. I'm going to be doing a Classics course: anything that lets me take some Latin is all right by me! I was thinking about maybe doing a joint degree with some French in there too, but probably not (argh argh more oral exams what). (Oh, er, and I'm applying to Oxford as well, but I really, sincerly do not expect to get in).

Where are you thinking about going?

[identity profile] misplacedmarble.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
How much Tacitus ARE you doing? We're doing 6 Ovid poems and 23 paragraphs of Cicero.

I'm looking into UoL colleges, like Royal Holloway, UCL, and King's, as well as Warwick, Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham and Exeter (but I decided that Oxbridge really isn't for me) - I don't want to go TOO far from home. I've only visited Royal Holloway so far, but I loved it SO VERY MUCH, and I don't know if this is because I haven't seen any others or whether I've magically hit on the right place for me first time. :S We shall see!

Orals are HORRIBLE, which is partly why I'm dropping German at the end of Year 12. Are you going to drop any of your subjects?

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-09 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
SO MUCH TACITUS, OH MY GOD. We're doing Annals 1, chapters 16-49, which is roughly 33 long paragraphs, like, 20-odd lines each, except for the bits which SNEAKILY have two paragraphs to a chapter. It is so monotonous, it makes me want to cry.

Hee, see, my whole 'looking at universities' policy is IS IT FAR AWAY CAN I GO FAR AWAY. You will note that my four main choices are either SOUTH or NORTH (lol Scotland). Why Royal Halloway? What would you like to study?

I...am not going to drop any subjects, because I am clearly a gluton for punishment DD: Not looking forward to the French oral though. (OR THE DAY WITH THREE HOURS OF LATIN EXAMS IN A ROW WHAT - and then the following day I have all my Classics exams, so my brain will be a bit dead after all that).

[identity profile] misplacedmarble.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
:O ARGH your Tacitus scares the shit out of me!

Royal Holloway is pretty, fairly cheap accomodation, in the south (I like the south :P), gives you a lot of free money, and has an interesting-sounding Classical Studies course, which is what I want to do. Nottingham sounds good too, though, so I guess I really have to go look at everywhere more in-depth.

BLAH I'm not looking forward to my English exams, in which I KNOW NOT WHAT I AM SUPPOSED TO DO, or R.S. because I'm not sure I can actually write as much as they want in the time given. :S Latin'll be ok as long as I have time to learn it...

[identity profile] missfoxie.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
DURHAM.

DURHAM, NOT LEEDS.

You are a classy Durham person not a Leeds creature. (why yes I have issues with Leeds, but am v subtle about it, obv)

[identity profile] moogle62.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
But DURHAM is too close to here! I agree that Durham is better than Leeds though, on that you are right.

You know what, I totally see that subtle issue. It's like when I asked you if you liked Creme Eggs, like, at Easter, in a completely separate email. Oh dear.

Edited because 'oh year' and 'oh dear' are not the same thing. D:

[identity profile] missfoxie.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's too close. You'll still not be living at home but would be close enough in case of emergencies etc. It won't seem close once you're there, not really. You'd be in your own little academic/individual college world.

Ah yes, MY SUBTLETY IS AS SUBTLE AS THIS CAPSLOCK.

XD
